Impact saint patrick high school today and tomorrow
Your charitable gift will provide vital support for our projects, activities and goals
Brian DeGustino is a 1991 graduate of Saint Patrick High School where he was both a standout student and football player. Because of both his athletic prowess and his academic potential, he was recruited by, and attended, Harvard University.
Today, DeGustino is a successful businessman, and he sits as the treasurer of the Saint Patrick High School Board of Trustees. He lives in the north suburbs with his wife Amy and his two children.
Looking back, DeGustino states that "St. Patrick played a significant role in my life, and shaped me in many ways that are only apparent today. It helped me in achieving what I have today."
Because he wanted to help future generations of Shamrocks reap the same benefits he received, he and his wife created an estate plan in which St. Pat's, as well as other charities, were designated in his will. "I believe in the mission of the school to educate ALL young men that are willing to work hard and persevere. It is imperative that the school have the necessary funds to make this possible. Setting up this gift is one way alumni can ensure that St. Pat's can continue its mission of 150-plus years."
DeGustino also points out that an alumnus can help St. Pat's continue its mission by designating St. Pat's as a beneficiary of his IRA. "[Making St. Pat's a beneficiary of an IRA] is very easy and quick to execute, and accrues no legal fees."
Including St. Pat's in his will provides DeGustino with considerable self-satisfaction. "I know that the school needs these funds, and that I need money to live. The gratifying part of estate planning is that [the transfer of funds] usually occurs after death, which means that I no longer need the money to live! It is a no-brainer, and the easiest way to donate to a great cause."
